Lockdown Lifted at Lee’s Summit High School After Reported Threat Deemed Non-Credible

Lee’s Summit High School KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A lockdown at Lee’s Summit High School was lifted Tuesday morning after authorities determined a reported threat was not credible, following a full police response and thorough building search.

According to Principal Nathan Muckey, the lockdown began shortly after 7:30 a.m. when a threat was called into the school’s front office. In line with established safety protocols, students and staff remained inside classrooms or moved to designated secure areas while the situation was assessed.

The Lee’s Summit Police Department responded promptly, securing the campus and conducting a detailed search of the building. After completing their investigation, officials confirmed there was no active danger, and normal school operations were allowed to resume.

As an added precaution, a continued police presence will remain on campus throughout the day. Families were informed they may pick up students early if they wish, though administrators cautioned that dismissal times may be delayed to ensure a safe and orderly process.

School officials acknowledged the emotional toll such incidents can have, noting that counselors and support staff are available to assist students and staff. This marks the second reported threat involving the school this academic year, raising ongoing concerns within the community.

Administrators emphasized that false threats are taken seriously, as they disrupt learning, create fear, and may lead to legal consequences. Authorities continue to investigate the origin of the call while urging the public to rely on verified information.
